Douglas Lima vs Gegard Mousasi spring of 2020

Douglas Lima defeated Rory MacDonald for the Bellator Welterweight Title at Bellator 232 and Gegard Mousasi lost to Rafael Lovato JR for the Bellator Middleweight Title. Since the Bellator Middleweight Title is vacant Lima can be a double champ or Gegard regains his title of becoming the Bellator Middleweight Champion.

“Both Douglas Lima and Ilima-Lei Macfarlane continue to prove they are two of the most dominant fighters on the Bellator roster,” Bellator president Scott Coker said in a statement. “They made their Bellator debuts very early on in their careers, have climbed to the top of their respective divisions and have come to represent what this promotion is all about. As champions, both have taken on all challenges and have succeeded in every opportunity. I look forward to watching them continue their careers with us.” Lima signed an extension with Bellator rather test Free Agency able to make dream fights and championship fights with Bellator’s Star.

Lima vs Mousasi is the fight to make for Bellator 2020. Main Event Fight for Bellator in the spring of 2020.

“I think size-wise it wouldn’t be so bad at middleweight,” Lima said. “I’ve been saying for a long time that I want to move up and never did. I just think the timing, it makes sense for me right now to move up and do it. I just got through this tournament, got the welterweight belt for the third time, and I think this is going to be very good for my career right now if I move up and take that title. I’m not here calling out names and all that, but for my career, that would be amazing.”
