Joseph vs Perrin is the first fight on Week 7 of the Dana White Contender Series. Most interesting fight to watch as Jay Perrin was the Cage Titans Bantamweight Champion and Joseph is one of the top ten prospects in the Midwest.

Jay Perrin

Perrin is on an impressive run as of late. The Sityodtong fighter is in the midst of 5 consecutive victories. Two of which came in 5 round title fights. Coincidently, those two title fights showed the depth of Perrins ability as he faced two of the toughest bantamweights in New England. Before earning a shot at the Cage Titans title, Perrin ripped off three straight rear-naked choke victories.

Dwight Joseph is another top-ranked prospect. Having fought the majority of his professional bouts in the midwest, Joseph is the 13th ranked bantamweight in that region (rankings according to Tapology). In the state of Nebraska, Joseph is ranked as the 5th best bantamweight.

Overall, Joseph holds a record 9-1, 1 NC. In his 11 professional bouts, Joseph has 6 stoppages including 4 in the very first round. Like his opponent Perrin, Joseph is on a streak of his own. Undefeated in his previous 7 bouts (6-0, 1 NC), Joseph comes into his shot at a UFC contract with momentum behind him.

With Joseph’s history, Perrin knows the first minute of the fight will be the most dangerous. However, after the first round, he doesn’t see how Dwight will be able to compete with him technique-wise. “I’ve seen some spectacular stuff happen and that person did not get picked,” said Perrin. “Really, I need to do something that will finish in spectacular fashion.” Jay understands that if Dwight doesn’t go to bed right away, he needs to put on a “three-round a*s whooping,” in order to capture Dana White’s attention.

Jay Perrin the Brilliant Fighter with the Dominick Cruz like IQ believes he’ll beat the Knockout artist, Dwight Joseph. Jay Perrin in his last fought a fighter with a record of 9-3, Fight before that was Johnny Campbell…. Had a 16-9 record.

Kennedy Nzechukwu lost to Paul Craig in his UFC debut after winning a UFC contract on the Dana White Contender Series. Kennedy looking for his first win in the UFC by beating Light Heavyweight prospect Darko Stosic.

Nzechukwu didn’t look like himself in his last fight against Paul Craig but he’ll become the “African Savage” against Stosic.

Fortis MMA product Nzechukwu was told by his team to rewatch the fight, but he left that to his coaches. He has no desire to look back at the loss, and he hopes to show what he’s capable of come Saturday.

“I haven’t even watched that fight – I’m terrified of watching that fight, Nzechukwu said. “It’s not me, man. It’s definitely not me. They keep telling me to watch it, I was like, ‘Nah, I can’t watch it,’ because I might have nightmares thinking of that fight. It was just a horrific, horrifying performance, and I’m just ready to go.”

Nzechukwu is the part of the new crop of Light Heavyweight talent, One of the talented Light Heavyweights that has the potential to be a Light Heavyweight Champion. Bringing the UFC Title back to Nigeria.

“It’s awesome. We always knew eventually we’re going to get an African champ. I’m happy for Kamaru Usman for opening that door and shedding that light on Africa. We never had African stars until he came around. Now, there is him, [Francis] Ngannou, Sodiq Yusuff, Israel Adesanya, and Mark Diakiese and myself. I’m not in the limelight yet so I have to perform. I don’t consider myself a UFC fighter or a prospect so I have to perform like I know I can.”

Nzechukwu should consider himself a UFC Light Heavyweight Prospect and a NIGERIAN UFC Light Heavyweight champion. Nzechukwu capable of doing that by being coached by Sayif Saud, Head Coach of Fortis MMA. Sayif Saud top ten MMA head coach will have Kennedy well prepared against Darko Stosic.

“We have a lot of prospects. I’ve been working on speed, conditioning, and cardio. These guys can’t carry their body around for these five rounds or three rounds.” Five rounds. Nzechukwu already has title fights on his mind.

“I’ve watched tapes and tapes and tapes on these guys’ fights. I know cardio and conditioning is a huge, huge factor in the fights. I was a long-distance runner as well as playing soccer. So my lungs are ready to go for days. I’m ready to capitalize on these guys’ mistakes. I’m ready for this division. And I’m ready to make a run for that belt.”
