Second Week of April 2022 MMA Fights to Watch

Taylor Lapilus ARES FC

Former UFC fighter won a TKO Bantamweight title now looking to win a ARES FC Bantamweight against former EFC Bantamweight Champion Demarte Pena.

Lapilus 30 years old still can return to the UFC.

Finding hope after winning a TKO title and defeating former UFC Flyweight Title Challenger Wilson Reis, Current Bellator Bantamweight Josh Hill and current UFC fighter Nate Maness.

I understand Lapilus got released but he deserves a second opportunity to fight for the UFC. Might make a top 15 run if the UFC signs him.

List of wins post UFC is impressive. If he defeats Pena in amazing fashion than Sean Shelby should offer Taylor Lapilus a UFC contract that week.

  • 30 years old
  • Former TKO Bantamweight Champion
  • Wins over Wilson Reis, Josh Hill, Nate Maness, Ulka Sasaki,
  • 4 fight winning streak
  • Trains at MMA Factory with Ciryl Gane, Nassourdine Imavov.
Definitely watch this fight,

Lapilus stayed composed in the first round as Reis used his grappling ability to take him down take him down.

Lapilus on the striking definitely landed better shots as he looked faster. Love the way he mixed with hooks, jabs than push kicks.

Roberto De Souza Rizin 35

Rizin Lightweight Champion. Arguably one of the best Lightweights outside of the UFC and Bellator is defending his Lightweight title for the second time.

De Souza is a high level Brazilian Jiu Artist, Winning IBJJF European Open, Quintet Final and many other Jiu-Jitsu tournaments.

Transferred his BJJ success to MMA.

Looking to continue his Rizin Lightweight title streak against Johnny Case. Case former UFC fighter defeated Roberto De Souza at Rizin 19.

Time for De Souza to revenge his loss in submission fashion. Proving he can defeat UFC fighters.

Most impressive win was against Tofiq Musayev a VERY GOOD Lightweight prospect who defeated Patricky Pitbull in the Rizin final.

Shocked he defeated Tofiq so he earned my respect and may earn more others with win over Case.

Koji Takeda Rizin 35

#1 Japanese prospect is a beast fighter. Japan making a comeback with some good fighters and Koji Takeda is on top of the list.

Takeda honestly reminds me of Takanari Gomi, Fight very similar as both are stand up heavy, Good chin and are both savages.

Takeda upcoming fight against Spike Carlyle former UFC fighter. Be a huge win for him attracting UFC or Bellator to sign him.

Takeda has a record of 13-2, Former DEEP Lightweight Champion before signing with Rizin.

  • 27 years old
  • Former DEEP Lightweight Champion
  • 13-2 record
  • Takanri Gomi comparison

Vugar Karamov Rizin 35

One of the most exciting prospects out of the Rizin Roster is a high level Pankration fighter. Impressed with the pressure he puts on fighters.

Caught my eye attention when he fought Kyle Aguon at Rizin 21. Dominated him from striking to ground & pound.

Started doing my research on him as I learned he’s training partners with former Rizin Lightweight Grand Prix winner Tofiq Musayev,

Went down to South Florida to train at Sanford MMA getting so many different looks from Andre Harrison former PFL, Titan FC Featherweight Champion. Mukhamed Berkhamov, Rafael Fiziev.

Vugar is a very good fighter and looking forward to another impressive performance at Rizin 35.

João Elias Brazilian Fighting Series 8

#1 Brazilian Flyweight prospect reminds me of Wilson Reis. Definitely can have a future in the UFC as it’s only a matter of time.

Defeating some very good Brazilian MMA Flyweights in his MMA career.

Looking to win the Brazilian Fighting Series Flyweight title.

  • 16-3-1 record
  • 27 years old
