Donald Cerrone beat Al Iaquinta whose a Top 5 Lightweight in the UFC on May 4th in Ottawa. The main event for UFC OTTAWA. Donald Cerrone post fight called for the Lightweight Title Shot fighting Fighting the winner of Khabib vs Poirier!!
Congrats to @cowboycerrone on the impressive win last night and MUCH respect to the incredibly TOUGH and BAD ASS @aliaquinta for an amazing fight!!!! Dana white on Instagram
Donald Cerrone has been in the UFC since 2011. He always puts on entertaining fights for the fans, Never has a boring fight and is a fan favorite. Cerrone definitely deserves a title shot. Cerrone is 36 years old, His career is coming to a close soon possibly having only two years left.
“My name’s in the hat for [Nurmagomedov or Poirier] for sure if one of them fall out. But like I said, I left here [ranked No. 2 at lightweight] and I didn’t go anywhere,” Cerrone said post-fight (via MMA Fighting). “So people ask me where should I be ranked, I don’t care about ranking. I should beat these guys, I feel like I’m the best in the world. I feel like that’s where I belong and for the UFC not to give me a title shot, I would step back and I would be thoroughly disappointed. Like, wow, a guy who’s done all this for the sport, I don’t trash talk, I go in there and I deliver every time and you’re going to overlook me for somebody else. I’d be really upset like, wow, that’s the company work for?”
Donald Cerrone
- Most wins in UFC history 23
- Most finishes in UFC history with 16
- Most post fight bonuses with 17
- Beat Benson Henderson, Edson Barboza, Al Iaquinta, Eddie Alvarez.
- Competed for the UFC lightweight title
- WEC Title Contender
Case is closed in my opinion Cerrone should get his title shot, He truly deserves it. Fight Khabib or Poirier than hopefully get the fight against Conor McGregor.
