What’s next for Jack Hermansson ?

Jack Hermansson coming off two excellent wins against David Branch and Jacare Souza. Hermansson making a name for himself against top ten, World class middleweights. Hermansson having his first main event fight against Souza. Hermansson wasn’t even supposed to be the main event it was Yoel Romero vs Souza.

“The report states that Romero has come down with a bout of pneumonia in recent weeks which has left him unable to compete in the fight which was scheduled for just over three weeks’ time. It is not yet known if the UFC will attempt to find a replacement for Romero, or seek to rebook the match at a later date.https://themaclife.com/featured-posts/yoel-romero-contracts-pneumonia-ufc-fort-lauderdale-main-event-jacare-souza-report/

Hermansson took advantage of the opportunity and now in the running to be a contender. Hermansson probably needs one more fight to get that title fight and maybe against Yoel Romero. Two grapplers going at it. Definitely a fun fight to watch.

The other option is Hermansson vs Kelvin Gastelum. Kelvin coming off a loss but had a five round war. Kelvin is a top 5 middleweight and it will be great to see him face Hermansson. Hermansson facing Kelvin will be a huge test for him,

I don’t see any other options besides those two. Makes no sense to fight anyone else that’s a lower ranking.

Augusto Sakai

  • 12-1
  • 27 years old

  • Former Bellator mma fighter

Sakai brings some life to the Heavweight division, Instead of these older veterans who are on there last run for the heavyweight title. Sakai has the potential to be a UFC Heavyweight champion.

Patrick “Patchy”Mix should sign with the UFC or Bellator in 2019!!!

Patrick Mix is one of the best bantamweight prospects in the world and competes for King of the Cage, A regional promotion that’s been around since the early 2000’s. Patrick Mix competed against veteran fighters and world class prospects, Mix should go sign with UFC or Bellator!!

Patrick Mix

  • 10-0 record
  • 21 win streak including Amateurs
  • 25 years old
  • #1 ranked bantamweight fighter in New York,#5 ranked bantamweight fighter in the United States
  • King of the cage champion
  • Defended KOTC belt 4 times

Patrick Mix will probably fight for the Dana White Contender Series because Season 3 is about to start. Mix can get more noticed there with casual fans who don’t really know who Patrick Mix is. Patrick Mix has a spectacular Contender Series fight and gets a contract.

Patrick Mix other option is to get signed without appearing on the Contender Series because he’s one of the top 135 pound prospects. UFC scouts definitely know who Patrick Mix is.

Patrick Mix deserves to be signed with the UFC or Bellator. He’s a world class talent who has the potential to be a UFC champion.

If the UFC isn’t in the cards, Contender Series is quickly approaching. That said, there’s a good chance waiting on the show, which would put him at eight months of inactivity, isn’t ideal for Mix. If Mix signs on for another KOTC title defense, the Buffalo native should make sure a UFC contract is in the fold if he wins.

Write it down. Highlight it. Circle it. At a minimum, remember his name: Patrick Mix.

Sign him, UFC.

Alistair Overeem LAST RUN for the UFC TITLE!

Alistair Overeem was the Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, Dream Heavyweight Champion, K-1 Heavyweight Champion and maybe the UFC Heavyweight Champion. Overeem is 38 years old and a true legend of mix martial artist.

Overeem has been fighting since the days of Pride and deserves to win the UFC Title. Overeem can retire knowing he’s a UFC Heavyweight Champion. Overeem is on a two fight winning streak by beating two top 15 UFC Heavyweights.

“I’m still looking for that fight,” Overeem said at the post-fight press conference for Saturday’s event, which took place at Yubileyniy Arena in St. Petersburg, Russia, and streamed on ESPN+. “I was very prepared to face Alexander Volkov. I was looking forward to that fight. That fight didn’t happen tonight, but hopefully the next fight will be Volkov.”

https://mmajunkie.com/2019/04/alistair-overeem-still-wants-to-fight-alexander-volkov

Overeem hopefully gets this fight as Volkov is a top five or top six fighter. Overeem has a high chance to win this fight as well because Overeem is one of the best mma strikers we’ve ever seen. Truly wish and hope Overeem wins this fight, Gets this fight soon. Overeem continues that climb for the UFC Title.

Overeem has two or three more fights to get his UFC title shot. Overeem can fight Lewis than get a revenge fight against Francis Ngannou and lastly get the UFC Heavyweight Title. In general Overeem is going to fight top 5 Heavyweights. Amazing to see Overeem with the UFC title wrapped around his waist, Lengthening his legacy since 19 years old.

PFL MMA 2019, What the Future Holds! (Part 1)

Professional Fighters League had its first season in 2018 by having six divisions all competing for the million dollar prize. Before PFL they were originally the World Series of Fighting and had fighters like Justin Gaethje, Marlon Moraes, David Branch and Blagoi Ivanov. The problem with the PFL nobody watched it. Why? Is the PFL a bust or a competitor with the UFC, ONE and Bellator? PFL has Potential, However…

PFL’s New Year’s Eve Show drew 204,000 viewers on NBCSN
January 4, 2019
The New Year’s Eve showing of the PFL Championships on NBC Sports Network drew 204,000 viewers.

http://mmapayout.com/2019/01/pfls-new-years-eve-show-drew-204000-viewers-on-nbcsn/

PFL signed a two year deal with ESPN which is FANTASTIC, Congratulations to them but who is going to watch it? I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that PFL will get a boost in ratings because of ESPN but how big of a boost is it? Maybe PFL Average Views is 300,00 to 400,000.

Peter Murray is the new CEO of PFL and he worked in Under Armour, Peter is passionate about MMA as he talks about it in the interview with Ariel Helwani. Peter should stay there as he brings a lot experience, Hopefully fresh ideas and new skills to PFL. The girl with Peter Murray is Kayla Harrison, Gold Medal Judo Winner and a star of PFL.

Kayla Harrison, 2019 and beyond can be the face of PFL. She has the look and the story behind her. Kayla being a gold medal winner, Representing the United States. Kayla bring PFL to the next level, Competing with the likes of Bellator. Kayla in the prime of her career at 28 years old and you still have time to build around her. Sign Veteran Female MMA fighters to put in the 2019 tournament and see if she can beat them all. PFL NEEDS TO MARKET THE HELL OUT OF HER and PFL in 2018 didn’t do a good job of that.

Justin Gaethje, Marlon Moraes, David Branch, Blagoi Ivanov were all WSOF champions. Imagined if they didn’t leave and stayed with the PFL. All these guys would be stars if PFL wasn’t a feeder league.

  • Lance Palmer
  • Andre Harrison
  • Kayla Harrison
  • Magomed Magomedkerimov
  • Philipe Lins
  • Ray Cooper

The PFL should sign these fighters to long term deals instead of having them sign with the UFC or Bellator. Keep these fighters and build them up, Every sports league need stars and PFL needs to stop selling them. The list of fighters here are world class fighters who can beat top 15 Ranked UFC Fighters, Do everything in your power to keep them.

PFL Signings

  • Chris Curtis CES Champion
  • Nate Andrews CES Champ
  • Damon Jackson LFA Champ
  • Denis Goltsov Heavyweight BEAST
  • Zane Kamaka
  • Satoshi Ishi
  • Rashid Yasupov

The fighters I just listed are all world class fighters, Champions in other organizations. Love that the PFL signed these guys which will make the 2019 PFL season more intriguing, More engagement with hardcore fans and casual fans.

UFC and Bellator sign top prospects, So Should PFL

PFL averaged 204,000 views because they lacked stars and world class talent. Stars make leagues. PFL to keep growing 5 to 10 years down the road they need to sign young hungry lions. If PFL doesn’t do that than no future for PFL. Imagine they signed the top prospects from the United States, South America and Europe, It be amazing. Sign them and PFL can average 800,000 to 1 million views.

Conclusion

From my point of view PFL was fun to watch, I enjoyed some of the fights and watched it all the time . However PFL has a LONG WAY to go, PFL in there New Years Event were giving out free tickets because they couldn’t sell out the place. Some of the fights lacked real fighting talent, Watching journeyman fighters compete. The product is only good as you put out.

Chris Curtis PFL Debut on May 9th, 2019

Whose Chris Curtis, Why am I blogging about him? Chris Curtis is one of the top MMA prospects in the United States and in the world. Chris Curtis fought for one of the top regional MMA promotions in CES MMA, He was the CES Welterweight Champion and showed the world his fighting talents on the Dana White Contender Series.

Chris Curtis won his fight at the Contender Series but never got the contract, He was going to retire but gladly he didn’t and now signed with the PFL.

Happy Curtis didn’t retire because he’s really talented and still has a couple years left in the tank. Smart signing by the Professional Fighters League(PFL) to sign Curtis who can become one of the stars for the 2019 PFL Season. Curtis brings world talent to the PFL whose always a entertaining fighter, Love to see him fight Ray Cooper, Magomed Magmomedkerimov and Handesson Ferriera.

One Championship Should Sign World Class Prospects!

One Championship has signed Demetrious Johnson, Eddie Alvarez, Sage Northcutt, Vitor Belfort and Yushin Okami. All of those signings are fantastic and they should continue to sign world class fighters, However One Championship should become extremely aggressive in scouting and signing world class prospects. Those prospects can be the next stars of One Championship!

Obviously UFC without a doubt has world class stable of fighters, On the other hand Bellator roster overall isn’t talented and that’s where One Championship can take advantage of that by signing top prospects. Bellator don’t get me wrong signs top prospects but not like the UFC does, Look at their prelims cards and you see fighters with 1-0 records. In those prelim cards with the UFC you would see young hungry lions or world class veteran fighters. One Championship signs prospects that Bellator is unable to sign or UFC doesn’t see One Championship will grow rapidly.

Jon Jones, Ronda Rousey Conor McGregor, George St Pierre, Robbie Lawler, Anderson Silva, BJ Penn are all names you recognize, Stars of the UFC. Before they were stars they were all prospects with a lot of hype. Conor being a double champ for Cage Warriors, GSP fighting for TKO, Robbie fighting for Extreme Challenge, Anderson Silva fighting for Pride and Cage Rage. The UFC signed these top prospects and started to build them up . Love to see One Championship do the same.

In the NFL there’s Odell Beckham, Tom Brady, NBA is Lebron James and Stephen Curry, MLB is Bryce Harper and Mike Trout, Soccer is Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Hollywood has Tom Cruise, Leonardo Dicaprio and the Rock. It’s all about the stars and building them up to their maximum potential. There’s so many MMA prospects who have the capabilities to become stars and it be sick to see One Championship snatch them.

One Championship should sign KSW stars Mateusz Gamrot and Roberto Soldic, Al Selwady from Brave FC, Soren Bak from Cage Warriors, Andres Quintana from Combates Americas and Lance Palmer from PFL. Imagine One Championship signs these guys and builds them up. These guys can be stars of any MMA organization and One Championship should do everything in there power to sign them. One Championship sign these guys I just listed and other top prospects the UFC finally has TRUE Competition.

2019 MMA DREAM CARD

Besides the UFC there’s several other MMA Organizations now with World Class Fighters such as Bellator, One Championship, PFL,Rizin FC, KSW, Combates Americas, LFA, Brave FC, M1 Global and ACB. MMA organizations won’t collaborate to create these dream fights but I can create them for fun and these are my selections…

Arman has his UFC debut on April 20th in St. Petersburg. Arman is fighting in the Co- Main Event against Islam Makhachev. Surprised to see Arman be the Co- Main Event in his UFC Debut. However Arman was selected that fight slot for a reason.

Arman Tsarukyan

  • 22 years old
  • 13-1 record
  • 14 fight win streak
  • MFP Lightweight Champion
  • Freestyle Wrestler

The future is bright for this kid, Possibly a UFC Champion and a MMA Star in the making. Tune in on April 20th to watch Arman fight, UFC Debut.

Max Holloway should stay at Lightweight or Drop Down to Featherweight?

Max Holloway lost to Dustin”Diamond”Poirier in a five round fight for the interim lightweight title. Holloway’s 13 Fight winning streak comes to an end as he had his first fight at Lightweight. Holloway’s striking skills wasn’t there on Saturday as he usually dominates in the standup, Holloway demolished Aldo and Ortega with his striking. In the fight against Poirier the punches weren’t dramatically affecting Dustin. What should Max do next, Stay at 155 pounds or return to 145 pounds.

Schaub discusses on the Joe Rogan Podcast about Holloway moving up to Lightweight isn’t the best decision for him, The Poirier punches affected Holloway a lot worse than what Holloway punches did to Poirier. Holloway landed more punches but Poirier’s punches were more significant.

Max in his last fight against Poirier, We see Poirier taking it to Holloway in the whole fight. Dustin in the first round had those deadly knees and strikes, Tagging Max a lot. However Max is tough as nails and kept fighting, Max didn’t get knocked out and lasted 5 rounds in his first ever go around at Lightweight. Watched the fight a couple times, Holloway still had his beautiful masterpiece combinations but never truly hurt Poirier. Holloway at 145 is another story and maybe that’s where he should stay.

“It’s crazy, what I didn’t expect is he looked small at 155,” White told the media at the UFC 236 post-fight press conference (via MMAjunkie). “So I look forward to him going back to 145.”

https://www.bjpenn.com/mma-news/ufc/dana-white-shares-plan-for-max-holloway-after-ufc-236/

I agree with Uncle Bobby Dana about Max looking small at 155 pounds but I disagree with Dana for Holloway moving down to 145 pounds. Max dominated the Featherweight division and now it’s time to seek a challenge in the Lightweight division. Max vs Tony Ferguson is a exciting fight to watch which was supposed to happen.

On the other hand there young hungry lions in the featherweight division such as Alexander Volkanovski, Zabit Magomedsharipov and can have Brian Ortega Part 2. Max can continue being the greatest Featherweight of all time and defeat the new top 5 UFC Featherweights.

Overall I rather see Max continue to fight at Lightweight, Interesting to see what Max does there. Max just needs to work on his strength and conditioning, Become a bigger 155 pounder. Max is the featherweight champion for a reason because he’s extremely disciplined and he’ll do whatever it takes to be the UFC Lightweight Champion.

Two Oceanians will collide, Israel Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker

Israel Adesanya, New Zealand immigrant from Nigeria became the UFC Interim Lightweight Champion by defeating Kelvin Gastelum . Israel had the toughest and hardest challenge of his career against Gastelum, The fight was a war and Israel came on top. Israel showed his true talents against Kelvin and will have to show his talents against Robert Whittaker, UFC Middleweight Champion.

“We were going to do that fight here; I wanted that fight in the U.S.,” White told reporters, including MMA Junkie, post-fight at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. “We’re definitely not doing that fight in the U.S. That fight is going to Australia. It will be massive in Australia. I put my guys on that. That’s their homework for this week. A stadium, not an arena, A stadium in Australia.” Dana White MMA JUNKIE

https://mmajunkie.com/2019/04/ufc-israel-adesanya-vs-robert-whittaker-unifier-australia-stadium-new-zealand

Israel Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker is going to be a PPV success. Last couple years ppv’s have been hard to sell but without a doubt this fight well sell close to a million buys. If everything goes to plan this will be one of the biggest fights in UFC history and one of the best fights ever. Casual fans will be watching this fight as well.

Predict the fight going to be scheduled in September, October or November. Hope everything goes to plan.

UFC 236 Fight of the Night Goes Too?

Max Holloway vs Dustin Poirier will be FIGHT OF THE NIGHT because both fighters are stand up fighters. Both of these guys are not grapplers, Rarely see them attempting to take there opponent down. Holloway vs Poirier won’t be the bloodbath fight but more of a technical striking fight.

Max Holloway is a technical striker not a brawler like Justin Gaethje. Holloway picks his openings and takes advantage of it. Holloway in my opinion and many other MMA Analyst think Holloway is one of the best boxers in MMA today. Max Holloway just keeps pushing the pace every round and that’s why Holloway has two fight of the night bonuses. Well Deserved.

Dustin Poirier is no slouch either with NINE Fight Bonuses, When entering the Octagon you always know Dustin is putting on a show for the fans. Poirier is a killer. Steps in the Octagon and goes all in.

  • Fight of the Year vs Chang Sung Jung 2012
  • Fight of the Year vs Justin Gaetje 2018
  • Fight of the Night Five Times

Max Holloway vs Dustin Poirier will be Fight of the Night and possibly nominated for Fight of the Year!!

The Winner is…. Max Holloway. The NEW INTERIM LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION.

Top Young UFC Bantamweight Fighters?

Petr Yan

Petr Yan is the #8 ranked Bantamweight fighter in the UFC division which speaks for himself. Petr has a 13-1 record at 26 years old. Petr is fighting world class fighter Jimmie Rivera. Toughest fight for Petr and maybe he can win the fight.

Ricky Simon

Ricky Simon is one of the most exciting MMA fighters today, Showing his talents on Legacy Fighting Alliance before signing with the UFC. Simon has a 15-1 Record with a 8 Fight Win Streak.

Cory Sandhagen

Overall the young bantamweight fighters I listed are world class fighters with potential to be win the UFC BELT. The talent in MMA is getting better and better.

What the next two years look like for the UFC Bantamweight Division?

TJ Dillashaw has a two year suspension because of testing positive for
recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO) . Dillashaw arguably is the greatest bantamweight of all time by beating Renan Barao, and Cody Garbrandt twice, However Dillashaw is not going to beat anybody anymore. The Bantamweight Division looks better than ever and who’s going to take advantage of the vacant title?

Cody Garbrandt

Cody Garbrandt couple years ago was looked upon as one of the future stars of the UFC. Cody lost three fights in a row, Two of them were against TJ Dillashaw. Cody had a masterful performance against Dominick Cruz. Since Dillashaw has a two year suspension it be a perfect time for Cody to rise from the ashes and become the Bantamweight Champion.

Henry Cejudo vs Marlon Moraes UFC 238

Cejudo is one of the best fighters on the planet, Winning the Olympic Gold Medal in Wrestling, Beating Demetrious Johnson for the Flyweight Title and Beating TJ Dillashaw. Cejudo is fighting Marlon Moraes on June 8th. They’re fighting for the Vacant Bantamweight title. Marlon Moraes before signing with the UFC was fighting for WSOF and defended the bantamweight title 5 times. Moraes lost his first fight but after that been on a 4 fight win streak. Now Moraes is looking to win the Bantamweight Title.

Aljamain Sterling vs Pedro Munhoz UFC 238

Aljamain Sterling and Pedro Munhoz are both on three fight winning streaks. Whoever wins this fight has a high chance to be the #1 Contender for the Bantamweight title. Aljamain is the dark horse for the bantamweight division, Aljamain is sneaky and at his best can beat Moraes, Dillashaw and Garbrandt. Pedro Munhoz built his fighting brand by beating Cody Garbrandt in the first round.

John Lineker

John Lineker nickname is the “Hands of Stone” and he has that nickname for the reason. Lineker has been in the UFC since 2012 , Believe Linker now is in his prime. Lineker is on a two fight winning streak and maybe Lineker can go on a impressive winning streak that leads him to a Title Shot this year or 2020. Lineker’s next fight is against Cory Sandhagen on April 27th.

May 14, 2016; Curitiba, Brazil; John Lineker (red) celebrates his unanimous decision victory against Rob Font (not pictured) during UFC Fight Night at Arena Atletico Paranaense. Mandatory Credit: Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

Overall the Bantamweight Division is going to be fascinating to watch over the next two to three years. Who rises through the rankings to become the Bantamweight Champion. What fighter dominates the division and competes with TJ to be the greatest Bantamweight Champion ever? Dillashaw returns and fights that fighter which will be a PPV for the ages.

Wish Ilima-Lei Macfarlane fought for the UFC!

Ilima-Lei Macfarlane is the Bellator Flyweight Champion, As a matter of fact a two time defending Flyweight champion. Ilima is one of the best female fighters on the planet and to boost her career, Build her brand and build her legacy is to fight in the UFC.

Ilima-Lei Macfarlane

  • 9-0 wins
  • 29 years old
  • 3 first round wins
  • 4 submission wins
  • Two Time Flyweight Champ

Ilima- Lei MacFarlane dominated the Bellator Flyweight division, It’s time for her to change promotions and sign with the UFC. Ilima has a lot of options in the UFC Flyweight division such as fighting UFC Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko. Ilima vs Valentina can be a fun fight to watch and a dream fight for women fighters, The fight can be the co main event.

Illima doesn’t want to leave Bellator but she should sign with the UFC and continue to build her legacy.

Rafa will be a nice addition to the UFC or Bellator Lightweight Division, Having some exciting fights and one day win a championship. Rafa has a lot of potential to be one of the top lightweight fighters on the planet.

Brendan Allen needs to Sign with the UFC or Bellator !!

April 26th, Jason Soares is fighting Anderson Hutchinson on Titan FC 52. Soares winning this fight should position him to get a UFC contract or a Bellator contract. As a matter of fact Dana White will be there to watch him fight.

I’ve been talking to Dana and the UFC Fight Pass team for awhile and I’m pleased we were able to make it happen. All of the fighters on this card are pumped to show Dana they are ready to not only compete but to dominate in the UFC.”

Without a doubt Jason Soares will bring his A game to his next fight, Getting Dana White to jump out of his seat.

Khabib vs Gaethje

Justin Gaethje is an all american wrestler and a brawler. Justin has a crazy chin and a high motor. The fight with Khabib makes a lot of sense as Khabib suspension ends in September. Without a doubt be Khabib’s toughest matchup so far… Dana White would love this fight as he loves both fighters, It can be the main event for a ESPN PPV and can sell 800k- 1 million ppv buys.

Gaethje vs Iaquinta

Al Iaquinta is a beast who just beat Kevin Lee, Dominating Lee with wrestling. Raging Al is a future UFC champion and an all around fighter. Al Iaquinta lasted five rounds against Khabib under 1 day notice.

Holloway/ Poirier vs Gaethje

Max Holloway coming up to lightweight to fight Dustin Poirier in UFC 236. Max is a striking beast, One of the best fighters on the planet and is 27 years old. Dustin is the dark horse of the lightweight division and is highly capable of beating Max. However Holloway vs Gaethje would be a hell of a fight to watch, No disrespect to Dustin. Be an entertaining fight to watch .

Overall the Lightweight division is in a mess right now, Conor retiring from MMA but I doubt it, Khabib suspension and Tony dealing with mental issues. The fight that makes sense the most at this moment on April 1st, 2019 is the winner of Holloway vs Poirier against Gaethje. Gaethje deserves the fight, Always puts on a show for the fans and the title fight wouldn’t be anymore different. Max is a stand up fighter mostly and so is Dustin! Definitely worth the money to order that fight, I’m probably going to buy the ppv if that fight happens!
